2012 Jaguar XJ
The revitalized
2012 Jaguar XJ mesmerizes your five senses. Resort-like seating awaits passengers in both the front and back of the sedan that gives them a taste of first class luxury complete with highest fidelity sounds for the ears. Add optimal climate control and panoramic roof and the XJ delivers the scent of fresh air.
"For its new XJ, Jaguar ditched convention and gave its iconic sedan a radical, strikingly modern design inside and out. A luxury sedan that once appealed only to those with fond memories of string-back leather gloves is now a fully competitive flagship," writes Edmunds.com in its review of the 2012 Jaguar XJ. Every XJ surrounds you with a powerful driving experience as you have four models from which to choose: Base XJ, XJL Portfolio, XJ/XJL Supercharged and XJ/XJL Supersport. You could go with the Supercharged's 5.0-liter V8 supercharged engine spewing 510 hp that reaches 60 mph in superlative 4.9 seconds or choose the base XJ with its 5.0-liter V8 engine purring with 385 hp and goes from 0 to 60 in 5.4 seconds.
The easiest choice for those seeking the most comfortable seating with plenty of legroom is to go with the long wheelbase option (the "L" in XJL). With 44 inches of extra legroom and four-way adjustable lumbar support in the reclining rear seats, it'll be an experience that no other transportation offers. Be warned, your passengers may want to linger in the XJ for a while to enjoy the tranquility.
Adding to the sensory experience is the standard panoramic glass roof with tilt and slide immersing passengers in natural light that's sheltered from the sun's harmful rays. Space turns into more than a feeling when accompanying the roof with the spaciousness of the XJ.
"The XJ's cabin is another highlight. While all vehicles in this class are meticulously constructed, exquisite details and a dramatic design set the Jag apart," writes Edmunds.com. Jaguar designers and engineers have scrutinized every detail of the car from the aviator watch-style analog clock design to the overhead console that produces an illusion of a beautiful waterfall of light.
Athletic or elegant, classic or contemporary, with the array of options available, the XJ excels at complementing the character and demeanor of its owner while serving up an all-inclusive sensory ride for everyone who steps into the XJ.
Besides, when you glance at the XJ, you can't help but notice it looks exactly like its famed icon of the leaping jaguar that you just want to leap inside and let it run free. Choose your XJ at Park Place

Technologies. The most technologically advanced Jaguar production sedan ever created, the XJ features a suite of easy to use, intuitive and empowering technologies, which are all integrated within the innovative Jaguar iTech platform. Jaguar iTech lets
Jaguar XJ drivers and passengers enjoy a range of superb entertainment, phone and navigation system functions controlled via the Touch-screen, Interactive Voice™ or more traditional switches and controls.
Virtual instruments. Start up the XJ and its Virtual Instruments come to life. The instrument cluster is composed of a full-color Thin Film Transistor (TFT) display. In place of conventional gauges, TFT offers several personalization options as well as high-contrast and sharp-resolution graphics, communicating vital information at a glance.
Integrated controls. Switches mounted on the steering wheel control the entertainment system and cruise control, and engage Interactive Voice™, which provides the latest voice recognition control for many functions. The system fully integrates with the Virtual Instruments that display driver input and selections. For extra comfort on cold mornings, the XJ also features a heated steering-wheel rim.
Halo lighting. At night the interior of the XJ is illuminated in Phosphor Blue halo lighting, highlighting the center console and door panels.
JaguarSense. JaguarSense is an electronic control system providing touch operation to open the glove compartment and control the front overhead console lights - especially useful in the dark.
Climate control. The
2012 Jaguar XJ climate control system is fully automatic, with air particle and odor filtration, auto-recirculation, humidity control and automatic window demisting. The dual-zone system, standard on the XJ, incorporates individual temperature controls for both driver and front passenger. A four-zone system, standard on long wheelbase and supercharged models, extends the availability of individual control to both left and right rear-seat passengers.
Rear business trays. The XJL Portfolio with Executive Pack and long-wheelbase supercharged models feature rear business trays finished in handcrafted wood veneer set into the backs of the driver and front passenger seats. (If Carbon Fiber interior veneer is chosen, the tray tables are finished in Piano Black.)
Intelligent keys. The Jaguar Smart Key System, featuring Keyless entry and Keyless start, has been designed for maximum driver convenience. Approach the XJ with the Jaguar Smart Key in your bag or pocket, pull the door handle and the system will automatically unlock the doors and disarm the security system. Once seated behind the steering wheel, activate Keyless start by simply applying the brake and pressing the "Start/Stop" button and the Jaguar V8 comes to life. Upon exiting the vehicle, locking the doors is as easy as pressing any door button.
Colors, metallic: Ultimate Black, Botanical Green, Stratus Gray, Lunar Gray, Rhodium Silver, Cashmere, Crystal Blue, Indigo, Caviar, Claret, Italian Racing Red, British Racing Green. (Available colors and options depend on the model.)
Colors, non-metallic: Ebony, Polaris White.
Panoramic roof. All XJ models feature a dramatic full-width glass roof, sweeping back from the top of the windshield to the front of the rear seating area. Unlike conventional sunroofs, however, it has a front section that slides upward and outward so it does not impinge on headroom. A dark tint and reflective glass coating help insulate the passenger cabin from the sun's heat, and twin, power sunblinds can be closed for extra privacy.
Adjustable power trunk lid. The power-operated trunk lid opens with a single press on the remote key, or by using a button either inside the car or on the bumper. There is another button inside the lid to close the trunk. In addition, the opening height of the trunk lid can be easily adjusted, to aid ease of use or for low garage ceilings.
Adaptive front lighting. With Adaptive Front Lighting, standard on XJ & XJL Supercharged and XJ & XJL Supersport models and optional on other models, sensors react to the car's speed and steering, directing the headlamps to cast light deeper into corners. The system also provides extra LED corner illumination when maneuvering at low speeds. Intelligent High Beam, also included with this feature, automatically switches between high- and low-beams to adjust to oncoming or preceding traffic.
Headlamps. Bi-function HID xenon headlamps operate automatically to provide powerful illumination when light levels fall. In a striking design feature, the base of each front headlamp cluster includes a strip of bright white LED Signature Lights. Headlamp power washers are mounted flush with the bumper so they will not disrupt the elegant lines of the XJ.
LED tail lamps. The dramatic tail lamps of the
2012 Jaguar XJ flow horizontally along the car's rear fenders before dropping toward the rear bumper. Each lamp unit contains 57 individual LEDs that react to brake application more quickly than conventional bulbs. Three blades of light in each lamp create a unique nighttime signature reminiscent of the claw marks of a cat.
Power vents. Bright chrome side power vents are set into each front fender; they are true pieces of automotive jewelry. Each features a sculpted, chromed badge that carries the Jaguar name, and identifies the trim level: Portfolio, Supercharged or Supersport.
Alloy wheels. A range of 19-inch and 20-inch alloy wheels is available, depending on model, in stunning designs unique to the
Jaguar XJ. Wider wheels and tires fit at the rear of the car, optimizing grip and enhancing the car's sporting, athletic stance.
Adaptive Cruise Control. The optional Adaptive Cruise Control uses microwave radar in the front bumper to sense if a slow-moving vehicle enters your path, and adjusts the throttle and brake to maintain a constant time gap between you and the vehicle in front. Once the road clears, the system will resume your previously set speed. The radar also operates a Forward Alert, which gives you an audible warning if the traffic ahead slows quickly or another vehicle suddenly moves into your lane.
Security. Door locks on the
Jaguar XJ can be controlled remotely from the key fob, or opened or locked directly from the door handle using the standard Smart Key keyless entry function. The doors can be set for single-point or multi-point entry, unlocking just the driver's door first or all doors at once. In addition, the doors can be set to lock automatically when the car reaches a pre-set speed. Of course, the vehicle is also protected by an alarm and an engine immobilizer.
Blind Spot Monitor. The standard Blind Spot Monitor uses radar to take much of the uncertainty out of changing lanes. An amber warning icon will appear in the exterior mirror when the system detects vehicles alongside that may not be visible in the mirror.
Airbags and seat belts. In addition to driver and front-passenger airbag Supplemental Restraint Systems (SRS), the XJ has side airbags (SRS) in the outer edges of the front seats, and side curtain airbags (SRS) to help protect occupants in both the front and rear outboard positions. Sensors detect the size and weight of the driver and front passenger to vary airbag deployment. At the same time, the front seatbelts feature "soft landing" technology, which softens the contact with the airbag and pre-tensions the seatbelts to help reduce slack. In addition, Active Head Restraints on the front seats are designed to move forward in the event of an impact to help lessen whiplash-type injuries
Parking. Ultrasonic sensors in the front and rear bumpers are designed to detect objects and give the driver both an audible warning and visual display in the Touch-screen. A standard rear-facing camera displays digital video on the Touch-screen when Reverse is selected, providing steering guidance lines to help you maneuver.
Brakes. All
Jaguar XJ models have anti-lock brakes, which vary the brake pressure to individual wheels to help prevent the wheels from locking under hard braking. If the car senses a sudden brake application, additional brake force is produced by Emergency Brake Assist, potentially resulting in shorter stopping distances. Advanced Emergency Brake Assist is part of the Adaptive Cruise Control option. It primes the brakes if the system's radar senses an imminent collision.
